Sketching!

I like sketching because it helps me be a better birder. Sketching helps me be a better birder because if you see a bird that has a lot of color and/or detail it may be easier to draw it instead of writing about it. By sketching you can find out what kind of bird it is when you get home in case you forgot your bird book. For sketching you need a pencil, paper, and a bird. I created an example for sketching directions. It has simple instructions for any bird. Then Lucy drew a bird with my instructions. For me sketching is some of the best types of drawing and it is fun.  Most of the birds that I sketch are chickadees and eagles.
